You are invited to attend a FREE Critical Incident Response and Equipment Seminar being held on Friday, June 16th at the South Metro Training Center in Edina, MN.

This Seminar will include morning and afternoon presentation sessions by Dr. Jeff Thompson who is a law enforcement detective, hostage/crisis negotiator, researcher and crisis communication instructor; having trained thousands of law enforcement personnel across the country, and a speaker internationally.  Additionally, Dr. Thompson an international speaker and is a professor at the Institute for Conflict Management at Lipscomb University that has presented on various recent terrorism/high profile situations such as the:



  • Sydney, Australia Café Hostage Siege

  • Paris, France Terrorist Attacks 

  • Orlando Pulse Nightclub Shooting

The morning presentation session will begin at 9:00am and will provide an overview on incidents of terrorism involving hostage standoffs and will detail suggested best response practices. This session will be geared towards Hostage/Crisis Negotiator Team Members and Leaders, Tactical Team Supervisors, Incident Command and related Law Enforcement Management/Supervisory Personnel.


The afternoon presentation session will begin at 1:00pm and will focus on crisis communication through digital/social media and will include an overview of what is suggested to be part of the response plan and overall strategies. This session is geared towards Hostage/Crisis Negotiation Team Members and Leaders, PIOs and Law Enforcement Management/Supervisory Personnel.


Each session will be followed with a presentation/demonstration of the following Crisis Response Equipment:



  • Direct-Link Bridge Series Crisis Response Throw Phone System

  • Direct-Link Evolution Wireless Crisis Response System

  • Tactical Communications Unit 3 (TCU-3)

  • MaxOut Portable Acoustic Hailers

  • Wireless Remote Audio Perimeter Sharing (WRAPS) System

Coffee and donuts will be provided prior to the morning session and a light lunch (sub sandwiches and beverages) will be served during the lunch break (12:00pm to 1:00pm).
